UFC Betting: UFC 240 Main Card Preview

UFC 240 Betting

Less than three years ago, Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar were scheduled to stand toe-to-toe in the Octagon before injuries got in their way. Fast-forward to this month and the UFC Featherweight champion Holloway is set to defend his title against the veteran No. 1 contender Edgar in the main event at UFC 240. After dropping his interim lightweight title, Holloway can now focus on the weight he’s best at against one of the bigger names in the division.

Can Edgar take care of business and successfully defend his title? Or will the underdog Edgar steal the show? Here is a look at the top fights on the UFC 240 card, as well as all the sports betting odds that UFC sports bettors can take advantage of at the sportsbooks.

Max Holloway vs. Frankie Edgar
Odds: Holloway -400

Max Holloway is coming off a rare loss to Dustin Poirer at UFC 235. However, Holloway was reaching to fight in the lightweight division. He should be much more comfortable fighting as a featherweight when he defends his title against Edgar. Holloway has won each of his last 12 fights at that weight, including back-to-back TKO victories over the former champion and legend Jose Aldo. While Edgar has grinded to earn a title shot, it’s important to remember that his last two losses came against Aldo and Brian Ortega, which are two fighters that have lost to Holloway in recent years. Even though Edgar is now 37 years old, he has the heart of a lion and could spring an upset.

Cris Cyborg vs. Felicia Spencer
Odds: Cyborg -700

The Montreal, Quebec-native Spencer skyrocketed her way up the women’s featherweight rankings following her first-round submission win over Megan Anderson in her UFC debut. However, Spencer is about to take a massive leap in terms of her level of competition fighting Cyborg. The former UFC Women’s Featherweight champion is coming off a knockout loss to Amanda Nunes. However, that was her first defeat since 2005, a run that featured 20 wins and a no contest. Cyborg is one of the most dominant fighters in the women’s division. Her power and precision will be on display against a very green opponent.

Geoff Neal vs. Niko Price
Odds: Neal -325

Unlike the main event and co-main event, many feel the underdog in this fight has a good shot. Neal has shown his punching power and submission ability while securing four of his last five wins via stoppage. However, he went the distance with Belal Muhammad and now he is giving up slight height and reach advantages against a capable knockout artist in Price. Nine of Price’s 13 career victories have come via knockout, including wins over Randy Brown and Tim Means. At +172 odds, it makes sense to back Price to pull off the upset in a fight that could very well go either way.
