It seems like Wynn Resorts just can’t get away from the allegations of sexual harassment. With a fresh wave of lawsuits that hit this week, the renowned casino brand will again have to defend itself and its work culture.
Nine Women Involved In Lawsuit Against Wynn Resorts Over Sexual Allegations
If you thought the Wynn Resorts-sexual harassment story was over (we all did), think again. Nine women have come forward with serious allegations about the state of their workplace environment in light of comments made by former CEO Steve Wynn. According to the lawsuit filed by the women, Wynn has openly joked with employees about the sexual harassment allegations he has faced in his final months while in the workplace. The women have complained that nobody did anything with their complaints about the comments made by Wynn. This is the second lawsuit filed against Wynn in less than a week.
Also, according to the lawsuit, there was a mandatory meeting held for staff from the Encore Salon in which several employees came forward and talked about the inappropriate actions and comments made by Wynn. Shortly after the meeting concluded, Wynn entered the room with a camera crew to celebrate the birthday of an 80-year-old employee, at which time he started kissing several female employees on the lips and giving group hugs.
The second lawsuit alleges that some of the women who have come forward have experienced a hostile work environment ever since they blew the whistle. Remember, Wynn Resorts has said they’ve undergone massive changes in the culture, but these women are stating that’s a falsehood. If true, this could have a severe impact on the company – especially in Massachusetts where the state thoroughly scrutinized the company to ensure they had made progress.
Macau Gaming Operations Barely Feel Hit In Revenue Streams
As protests rage on in nearby Hong Kong, casinos in the Macau region of China recorded their lowest revenues in a year in the month of September. It is hitting their bottom lines but considering profits are still strong, it’s unclear if the government or region will be impacted that much.
The Gaming Inspection Bureau released data showing that casino operators in the area recorded their lowest revenue pull in the last 12 months. However, the numbers also show that casino operators won $2.7 billion from gamblers in the month of September alone. While the number itself is down when compared to the previous 11 months, it still represents a slight rise compared to the same time last year. With analysts worried about the Hong Kong protests as well as China’s trade war with the United States, it would seem as though Macau gaming operators are still turning a very healthy profit.
Hard Rock, Mohegan Gaming Last Two Bidders Standing In Greece Casino Competition
The Hellenic Gaming Commission in Greece has narrowed its list of potential bidders for a new gaming license down to two of the biggest names in the business in the Hard Rock International and Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment. Those two companies are fighting hard to lock in the bid for a new casino at the site of the abandoned Hellenikon International Airport near Athens. While the Greek government has made an effort to get the integrated resort project moving along, the HGC still has to make its final decision on the winning bidder. Considering the date of the final decision has already been pushed back from September 30th, there is no definitive answer to the question of when the HGC will reveal which company has won the new casino license.
