It’s been a busy week in the poker world in terms of event announcements. From the details dripping down for the Wynn Fall Classic to the news about Jack Binion’s charity event, there is a lot of action to look forward to in the coming months. Here’s a look at this week’s biggest poker news:
2018 Wynn Fall Classic Schedule Announced
As the fall season approaches, the calendar continues to fill up with poker events. This week, it was announced that The Encore Room at the Wynn Casino in Las Vegas will once again host the Wynn Fall Classic. The event will be a big one as it guarantees more than $1.8 million paid out across 16 tournaments.
The series will get underway on September 26 and last through October 14, which is a week longer than the 2017 Wynn Classic. An added event is a $3,200 High Roller on October 10 and 11. The featured event of the Classic is the three-day Championship Event, starting on October 12. This has a $1,600 buy-in and a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool, with players starting with 25,000 chips, playing to 45-minute levels on Day 1, then 60-minute levels on Day 2, and 75-minute levels on Day 3.
Last year’s Wynn Fall Classic drew over 3,000 entries, but that was for eight events. With 16 on the docket, the resort is expecting a much bigger turnout.
Jack Binion Creates Poker Charity Event
Jack Binion, the son of casino mogul Benny Binion and the first host of the World Series of Poker in 1970, has announced the details for the Go All In For Memories charity poker tournament. The purpose of the event is to raise money for the charitable organization.
This year’s tournament will be held on September 21 at the Keep Memory Alive event center near downtown Las Vegas. It will have a $500 buy-in game with $10,000 going to the tournament champion.
Jack Binion was inducted into the American Gaming Association’s Gaming Hall of Fame in 2004 and the WSOP Hall of Fame in 2005. Keep Memory Alive raises funds and awareness for the Cleveland Clinic’s Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, which offers free services for caregivers, patient care and research related to Parkinson’s, Huntington’s disease, Alzheimer’s, muscular system atrophy and multiple sclerosis.
WPT500 Legends of Poker Has 16 Flights
The WPT500 Legends of Poker tournament is returning to The Bicycle Casino on the California coast. This marks the second appearance on the World Poker Tour schedule since 2014. This year’s edition is bigger than before, however, as a record number of 16 flights will be part of the 2018 event. That means we’re likely to see a massive field to the tournament. Overall, this will be the fifth year of the tournament as it has also been held in Las Vegas and Nottingham, England.
This is part of the Legends of Poker series, which has 25 games and will run through September 1. There will be a $3.5-million guarantee with million-dollar payouts to the tournament finalists.
