The NFL is down to its final four. The Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the quartet that’s left standing. We should be in for yet another fantastic week of football betting with a pair of exciting games. Let’s start off this week’s previews in Kansas City as the reigning Super Bowl champions face off against the Buffalo Bills.
Buffalo Bills @ Kansas City Chiefs
Odds: Chiefs -3
The Bills were able to fend off a surging Baltimore Ravens team by completely shutting down their rushing attack and bottling up Lamar Jackson. They had terrific success through the air but barely even attempted to run the football until late in the contest. They have to be more balanced if they want an opportunity to take down the reigning champions this week in the AFC Championship.
The Chiefs were able to hold off a motivated Cleveland Browns team in order to pick up their third straight AFC Championship appearance. However, they lost their superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the second half after he suffered a concussion. He got up very awkwardly and was ruled out for the remainder of the game. That puts his status into question this week and if he does miss the AFC Championship, veteran quarterback Chad Henne would be under center.
The status of Mahomes is the underlying story for this game but the general assumption is that he’ll play – especially since he doesn’t have a long history of concussions. If he doesn’t play, the Bills will quickly become favorites.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Green Bay Packers
Odds: Packers -3.5
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn’t play their best football last week against the New Orleans Saints but their defense was able to pull them to victory by forcing four turnovers. They had six giveaways in the two regular season meetings with the Saints but this time around, the turnovers went in their favor and that’s what helped them earn the win.
Meanwhile, the Green Bay Packers were able to pick up a solid victory at home against the Los Angeles Rams by putting up great numbers on the offense side of the football. They shredded the league’s top-ranked defense, scoring 32 points and piling up 488 yards of offense. Now, they’ll face Tampa Bay in a regular season rematch. This matchup is bound to be far different than the last one when the Bucs rolled to a 38-10 win as it will be played in freezing temperatures in Lambeau Field. The Packers actually led 10-0 in the first game before allowing the Bucs to score 38 unanswered points.
In a game that’s being dubbed as the ‘Goat Bowl’, we will be getting the privilege of watching two future Hall of Famers battle it out once again at Tom Brady will be going up against potential MVP Aaron Rodgers. Will Brady be able to make yet another Super Bowl appearance or will Rodgers fend him off and stamp his ticket to the big game?
