Eight Remain on Odds to Win College Football Championship

ou-header

Only eight teams remain in the picture for the College Football Playoff with the season wrapping up this week, and the Alabama Crimson Tide and Oklahoma Sooners lead the way ahead of the Clemson Tigers on the latest odds to win the national championship.

The Crimson Tide remain the favorites on the college football championship odds at +110 with the SEC Championship Game against the Florida Gators on tap for them this weekend. Big favorites for that matchup, the only way the Crimson Tide fail to snag a College Football Playoff berth is if they get upset by the Gators.

The Sooners are idle this week after wrapping up the Big 12 this past weekend, and they’re at +250 on the updated college football championship odds with a berth in the College Football Playoff all locked up. Oklahoma had been at +600 on those futures heading into last weekend before claiming their conference title.

The Clemson Tigers, one of two unbeaten teams left in college football, are then at +550 on the national title odds as they prepare to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels in the ACC Championship Game on Saturday. The Tigers will be in the College Football Playoff if they win on Saturday, and possibly if they lose as well.

Michigan State will take on Iowa in the Big Ten Championship Game this weekend, with the Spartans at +900 and the Hawkeyes at +1600 on the updated college football championship futures. The Big Ten champion will get a ticket to the College Football Playoff; the loser of the game likely will not.

A third Big Ten team, the Ohio State Buckeyes, is also at +1600 on the national title odds, but having fallen short of a berth in the Big Ten title game their only hope to make the College Football Playoff is for several upsets to occur that push the rankings into chaos.

The Tar Heels are then at +2000 on the national title odds as they gun for the upset of Clemson in the ACC title game on Saturday. A win for North Carolina on Saturday gives them a solid shot at being selected for the College Football Playoff.

And finally the Stanford Cardinal round out the updated college football futures at +3300 to win the national title this season. The Cardinal are in the Pac-12 Championship Game against Southern Cal this weekend, but with two losses on their resume they’re another school that needs a chaotic situation on Saturday to push them to the postseason.
