Nevada Casinos Register $1.058 Billion Win To Close Out 2019

The numbers are in for 2019 and it’s safe to say that casinos in Nevada had a good year in 2019. According to revenues released by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, casinos won $1.058 billion by gamblers in the month of December.

That total represents an incredible 5.79 percent increase from December of 2018. For the 2019 overall year, the Nevada casinos took home a ridiculous total of $12.032 billion. Sports betting revenues accounted for an impressive $329.14 million of the 2019 gross gaming revenue. As they say, that’s why The Strip is lined with megaresorts and not motels.

It represents the 10th consecutive year of increases in the state’s sports betting handle and the second time in as many years that it topped $5 billion. Nevada managed to exceed New Jersey for the biggest sports betting market in the nation and It will be interesting to see if Nevada can maintain this steady climb for the 2020 fiscal year.

Bid For Casino Resort In Athens Goes To Mohegan Gaming 

A massive casino resort in Greece is now one step closer to initial construction. The initial rights to build an integrated resort and casino development for Greece’s Hellinikon Project will go to Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment.

Approved by the Hellenic Gaming Commission, the official announcement included a statement that Hard Rock International tenders documents did not show sufficient construction experience or the ability to meet financing criteria. MGE’s project is to be known as Inspire Athens.

According to the company, the development will create in excess of 7,000 jobs for locals during and after construction. The firm in charge of the project expects an increase of at least 10 percent in international tourism in the Attica region. If all goes expected, the casino could contribute millions of euros annually to both the government and the people of Greece in the form of taxes, infrastructure improvement and public services.

After a long process, the focus now shifts to Mohegan Gaming and how quickly they can develop this massive casino complex.
