Poker News: Triton Series Winners, Broadway Bets Poker Tourney

Poker News Roundup

This week’s poker news starts us off with a couple of big winners. We’ve also got some news for you on a celebrity-filled poker tournament, which you’re able to join if you’re up for supporting a good cause.

Kenney Wins $2.7 Million As 2019 Triton Montenegro Main Event Champion

One of the most successful poker players has added to his winnings.

American poker pro Bryn Kenney overcame a field of 75 total entries to win the $1,000,000 HKD buy-in Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Montenegro no-limit hold’em main event. It was a profitable week for him at the Maestral Casino & Resort, to say the least, as he’ll take home $2.7 million in prize money as the champion.

The win came only three days after Kenney won the $500,000 HKD buy-in no-limit hold’em six-max event for nearly $1.5 million in prize money. The two massive gambling scores pushed Kenney’s career live tournament earnings to $34,999,701.

The victories moves Kenney in to fourth-place on poker’s all-time money list, moving him past Fedor Holz and David Peters to get to that position. He’s already won four different titles and made six final tables so far in 2019 with his winnings reaching $9.2 million for this year alone.

It should be no surprise that – based on those numbers – Kenny is currently the runaway leader in the Card Player Player of the Year race. Kenney is 1,718 points ahead of his nearest competitor at the top of that points race with 5,174 total points following the back-to-back victories.

Winfred Yu Is Big Winner Of Triton Poker Series Montenegro HKD 100K Short Deck

While Kenney made all the headlines with his pair of massive wins, Winfred Yu made a splash of his own by winning the first short deck event of the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Montenegro. With the victory, Yu took home $260,000 in US funds. The native of Hong Kong outlasted a field of 70 entries in order to cash in.

For his career, Yu has now collected nearly $4 million in live tournament wins. While Yu was the big winner, it’s also worth noting that Isaac Haxton pushed him to the limit with a brilliant performance of his own in order to finish second. It marked the second runner-up performance at the 2019 Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Montenegro for Haxton. He was the runner-up in another event that netted him $472,788 earlier in the tournament.
