Drake Casino Review

by James Carter on February 19th, 2015.

Drake Casino is one of the few US-eligible online casinos with good reputation, high-quality software (Betsoft) and relatively flexible deposit and withdrawal methods. They also have a big deposit bonus (100% up to $5,000) that's easier to clear than any bonus at other US casinos.

They have 24/7 customer support which can be reached via e-mail, phone and live chat. Unfortunately, however, as you'll see if you keep reading this Drake Casino review, I wasn't all that impressed with their live chat support.

Bonuses and Promotions

The best part about the Drake Casino bonus is that there's a 20x wagering requirement which is lower than at any other US online casino that I know of. Therefore Drake Casino's deposit bonus is the easiest in the US and, as you can tell, rather sizeable too when compared to other online casinos.

The amount of weekly bonuses that you'll get depends on the level you're on (which in turn depends on how much you've wagered). You're automatically assigned to Amber level which means you'll get a 10% reload bonus every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. As you get to a higher level, you'll also get a bigger percentage and a bigger bonus (up to 35% which is the Platinum level).

Bonus amounts depend on the day of the week, although the percentage stays the same each of those days unless you get promoted (or, heaven forbid, demoted).

One of the first things you'll notice after having entered Drake Casino's website is the lack of a "Download" button. No, you're not becoming blind (at least not based on this situation), it's just that Drake Casino only has an instant-play version of the software for both desktop and mobile devices. There's no way to download it which is the way I prefer it anyway for the following reasons:

  • No need to download the software.
  • No need to download the games to go with the software.
  • The games look and function great as instant-play versions.
  • The quality of downloaded software would be minimally better (if that).

Drake Casino's software is undoubtedly one of the finest in the market. As mentioned, the functions and looks are great and the software loads fast even for the brilliant 3D slots, such as Greedy Goblins (screenshots below).

Drake Mobile Casino

I was pleasantly surprised by Drake Casino's mobile games. They look good, function well and load fast on my iPad and iPhone. Since I play mobile casino games almost exclusively nowadays, this is a positive thing. They also have optimized casino software for Android and Windows Phones - apparently, Betsoft's casino software treats them well.

Drake is one of the finest mobile casinos for USA players (screenshots below).

Deposit and Withdrawal Methods

Drake Casino has a decent amount of deposit and cashout options for an online casino that accepts US customers. You can use the following methods to deposit money to Drake Casino:

Method Fee Limits
Visa Free $25 - N/A
Mastercard Free $25 - N/A
DirectCash $10 (free for $200+) $100 - $2,500
QuickCash $10 (free for $200+) $100 - $850

Surprisingly, Drake has four withdrawal options for US customers. That is a good achievement in the online casino world of today. Here are their cashout options:

Method Fee Limits
Bank Wire $60 $100 - $5,000
Check by Courier $30 $100 - $3,000
DirectCash $50 or 8% $300 - $700
QuickCash $50 or 8% $300 - $700

Bank wire is only for "qualified customers," so you'll have to contact Drake Casino's customer support and see if you qualify for it. Their website claims that bank wire transfers take 12 business days to arrive.

Customer Service

When I asked for a simple question about their welcome bonus offer, it took customer service representative "Robby" four minutes to reply. So the live chat session started rightaway but apparently the person at the other end of the chat was busy enough to take at least four minutes to write anything after the initial "Hello" automatic response.

I was disappointed with most of the answers, too - it seemed like he wanted to spend the minimum amount of time answering my answers and twice took a couple of minutes to reply, only to write that I can find an answer to my question on a certain page of their website. Those were small questions which he could have just as well answered himself, and amazingly, there were no answers to those questions on the pages that he recommended me, so he had to answer the questions anyway.

As if this was not enough, "Robby" left the chat without asking if there's anything else he could help me with. He was just suddenly gone. There's no way but to give them a low ranking for customer service.

The Drake Casino website also has some usability problems, which I consider being a part of the customer service experience - granted, I pay more attention to that sort of stuff than online casino players usually do. As an example, I wanted to try their mobile casino on my iPad, so I expected to be able to do that by going to the Mobile section of the website. That section, however, only includes screenshots of mobile games. (You can access the game by going to the Online Casino Games section, by the way.)

Drake Casino is a viable choice for US gamblers. The software is awesome, as are the promotions, and Drake offers a wider range of deposit methods than most casinos that operate in the US. So let me finish this Drake Casino review by recommending that you give the casino a test drive.
