“RolGuy” Wins Global Poker’s Sunday Scrimmage Jackpot

A poker player from Iowa that refers to himself as “RolGuy” took home $10,200 in prize money for his win in the Sunday Scrimmage tournament hosted by Global Poker. The first-place prize was just over one-fifth of the guaranteed $50,000 prize pool. Meanwhile, an Indiana resident that calls himself “El_Fap0” took home $5,100 when he won the $25,000 guaranteed Sunday Teaser as part of the online weekend poker event.

Alcorn Wins First Place In Main Event Of WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Southern Indiana

Thomas Alcorn, a retiree from Winder, Georgia, took home $117,322 when he won first place in the main event of the WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Southern Indiana. Alcorn emerged from a field of 357 entries to earn his eighth cash on the World Series of Poker Circuit since the start of August. In addition to the first-place prize money, Alcorn claimed his first gold ring as well as 600 Card Player Player of the Year points for the victory. It was the second final-table finish of the year for the retiree, who has spent the bulk of his free time playing online poker at various different sites.

Alcorn also placed third in the WSOPC Harrah’s Cherokee Main Event back in September and now, after a pair of substantial scores, Alcorn has climbed to 274th in the overall Player of the Year race standings. Runner-up Robert James took home $72,512 for his efforts. Third-place finisher John Gallaher claimed $52,190.

Brandstrom Victorious In World Poker Tour United Kingdom Main Event

Simon Brandstrom, a rising poker player from Sweden, claimed the top prize in the prestigious World Poker Tour United Kingdom Main Event. The 37-year-old native of Goteborg, Sweden edged out a massive field of 690 players in order to secure his third title of the year.

Brandstrom’s latest victory earned him a grand total of $330,000 and he was also awarded 960 Card Player Player of the Year points for his most recent win. The victory also propelled Brandstrom in to eighth in the overall 2019 POY race standings.

Earlier in the year, Brandstrom won the WPT DeepStacks Barcelona event to become the first player ever to win both WPT DeepStacks and WPT main tour event titles. Ryan Mandara, who was the runner-up at the event, earned $221,650 for his performance. Meanwhile, James Rann scored $168,500 for placing third, while fourth-place finisher Matthew Eardley also took home upwards of $100K with a $128,500 prize. After such a memorable year, it will be interesting to see what Brandstrom has in store for the rest of 2019 and in to the 2020 calendar year.
