Is Online Poker Legal in Massachusetts?

Internet poker isn't specifically illegal in Massachusetts as of now, although there's no law that would specifically allow internet poker either. I recommend contacting a local gaming lawyer to find out whether it's legal or not to play online poker in Massachusetts.

In 2010, things looked awful for online poker in Massachusetts, as there was a bill that would have resulted a $25,000 fine to everyone playing poker on the internet within Massachusetts' boundaries. Fortunately, that part of the bill was later removed.

Is Massachusetts Going to Legalize Online Poker?

In 2011, things started to look better for online poker in Massachusetts, as state officials filed a bill that would allow three casinos in Massachusetts. There were also plans to allow five online poker licenses, and this amendment "would also require the state to draft new regulations to ensure that Internet poker games have integrity and consist of games of skill and not games of chance."

In early 2012, State Tresurer Steven Grossman said that the state is going to study internet gaming options, which includes online poker, claiming that it's their obligation to do so.
