It was a busy week in the casino world with some headlines that seeped into the mainstream media. That has to do with the Wynn Casino in Macau, which was subject to one of the most significant robberies of all time.
$6 Million Stolen From Wynn Macau
Was it Ocean’s Eleven? At the Wynn in Macau, reports have surfaced that there was around $6 million of casino chips stolen. So far, only a dealer who worked at the Wynn Macau has been arrested, along with one other person, but their names haven’t been released. Police aren’t even saying how the chips got past security, although it is being alleged that someone simply put the chips in a bag in a VIP room and walked out of the casino. To this point, police have only recovered a portion of the chips, so it is possible there are more culprits involved. To turn the chips into money, someone will have to later come back into the casino to exchange them.
While this isn’t a very elaborate scheme, it’s surprising that they got away with it (at least so far). Oddly enough, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Back in 2015, an operator said that they were robbed of more than $30 million and it also happened at a Wynn casino. For whatever reason, Wynn has been a bit of a target, so it is likely to beef up security.
Microgaming Partners With Playboy
Microgaming has paired up with Playboy to create an online slots game that features the worldwide brand. Known for its scantily clad and nude women, it should pair well for a fun slots experience. This game has been in the works for five years and will be released on March 7.
Also on the horizon for Playboy is Playboy Golf, which will be on display at the ICE Totally Gaming 2018 event that happens from February 6 to 8. People will be able to see how this game works as so far there haven’t been any details released.
Play’n Go Expands Into Spain, Colombia
Play’n Go, a Swedish developer of online casino games, is expanding the boundaries of its business. They are now going to be available to operators in Spain and Colombia. The news comes after the company received the green light in both countries. Play’n Go has already been operational in Croatia, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Romania, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Belgium, Italy and Alderney.
It was a difficult process to get clearance in Spain and Colombia, but Play’n Go passed all the requisite regulations. It was important to the company as the Spanish online gaming sector has been one of the best in Europe while the Colombian industry continues to show rapid growth.
Play’n Go is also going to be showing off its new games at the ICE Totally Gaming event, which will take place in London. Attendees will be able to see all of the new products both for online and land-based casinos.
